The central government announced a South Coast Railway Zone based in Visakhapatnam, but it looks like the Walther division is losing its importance slowly. Even though the announcement came out in 2019, there's been a lot of delay in getting things set up, and now it’s causing all kinds of losses. With the South Coast stuff dragging on, all development work is stuck. The priority for Walther division is dropping. So, since the announcement about the South Coast Railway Zone is made, the focus on the Walther division is fading out. Even though the detailed project report is done and sent to the railway board, the process after that has just stopped. Plans for the Rayagada division are moving fast, but the zone issue keeps popping back up. There's been a lot of talk and reviews going in circles. Since BJP is part of the coalition government... if they push the railway board and ministry politically, this whole process might speed up, as some folks are suggesting. In many ways... Are they gonna replace with a sub-division? In the past, the railway board got a report about setting up a sub-division in Visakh instead of Walther division. This is supposed to help manage railway assets, train operations, and other projects. They’re planning to appoint someone at the level of ADRM here. But the locals are demanding they want a zone with the Walther division. We'll just have to wait and see how hard the officials and public representatives work to make it happen. Don’t want it coming to Visakh... There are complaints that East Coast Railway is ignoring Visakhapatnam big time when it comes to allocating trains based on passenger demand. Even though trains from other zones are running, Visakh is getting the short end of the stick when it comes to stops. Many special trains pass through without stopping at Visakh, going through Gopalapatnam-Duvvada instead. Even while giving out new coaches to other divisions... they’re giving Walther a cold shoulder.
