In these modern times, when technology, speed, 'passenger safety' etc have taken a lot of importance, the meter gauge/narrow gauge is now almost dead buried with less than a fraction of length, to that of BG is left still operating.
Specially for all budding railfans across the length-breadth of this country, we would definitely be emotionally attached to this and would really love to see this to be in function.
Don't you guys think IR should make some provisions for conserving meter/narrow gauge, I understand that it might be tough for them, but

every year with the 'great indian rail budget' being presented, IR can make some part of their provisions towards preserving these tracks out of their 'growing profits'.
I know it's a very open/debatable topic, but would welcome all views/suggestions.

The longest stretch of Meter Gauge in running condition id from Kasganj to Gonda in Northern UP. Its 500 kms. An express train takes almost 13 hours to cover this distance. An average of less than 39 km/hr.
I would like to differ from you in preserving the Meter Gauge. This will be very uneconomical and these locos and rakes are not kind of antique. they are very similar to the broad gauge locos and rakes. May be a few isolated stretches can be preserved but if it can be converted then it should be done.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
