Useful
I had a short railfanning session at Kharepatan Road and please find some tips from my experience listed below:

1. Location:
Kharepatan Road is quite remotely located and the area around this station is completely uninhabited. It is located near the village of Chinchawali and hence many locals refer to this station as Chinchawali station. Kharepatan Market is 6 kms away from

this station

2. Connectivity:
No autorickshaws or any other mode of transport is available at this station even during the arrival of Sindhudurg Express. You have to depend on private vehicles and pre-planned autorickshaws. If you are planning to deboard here, make sure you have made travel arrangements in advance to get to the destination from this station. If you have no arrangements, contact the station master at the station who might be able to help with the contacts of some autorickshaw drivers but keep this as the last option. Instead de-board at Vaibhavwadi Road or Rajapur where autorickshaws are available

3. Trains:
As of May 2023, Sindhudurg Express is the only train that halts at Kharepatan Road. The only platform at Kharepatan has a very short height and the task to climb up the train is quite difficult.

4. Amenities:
The platform height is quite low and hence it is difficult to board and deboard the train at Kharepatan Road. This being a newly built station, the Konkan Railways should have at least built a proper platform. It is absolutely bizarre planning on behalf of the Konkan Railways and the general public has to bear the inconvenience. Clean Toilets, Waiting Rooms and Filtered Free Drinking Water is available. Toilets are available for Specially abled persons too with Ramp access. UTS Ticket Booking counter is available and opens 1 hour before and closes 5 mins before the departure.

5. Railfanning:
Like almost every station on Konkan Railway, this is a heaven for railfanning. The station is scenic and the single crossings add more value to the experience.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
