In 2004,
Fare in sleeper class of Grand Trunk Express from New Delhi to Agra Cant was 140 INR . At that time per person income of India was around 78 INR per day.

Today per person daily income in India is around 380 INR and fare of same train in sleeper class is 165 INR but in 3rd AC is 510.

My simple question is -

If Indian Railway is reducing subsidized sleeper coaches and increasing profitable 3rd AC coach then what wrong in it. If it can be called as limiting the options from poor peoples then how they used to manage in 2004 when they need to pay around twice amount of average daily salary of per person in India for travelling in sleeper class?

If you are not having any earning source and you need to ask money from others for bread and butter and take debt for your bread and butter then will you donate that debt money to others? If no then how can you expect that railway should keep herself in loss but not stop the subsidy to poor peoples.

I am not against with rights of poor peoples because i can also be poor some day but what can we do? If it is really a big problem then government can provide additional subsidy in train fare to poor people(Not by ministry of railway).

I request you all that please don't call me fascist. I will be agree with you in case you will be able to satisfy me that how poor peoples manage to travel in 2004.

they still prefer see there was sale running on cleartrip and goibibo and i booked a flight ticket from jaipur to guwahat in just around 1200, currently fare specially ac fare in some trains are already very high

Fares of airline are not the actual costs or cover operational costs to earn net profit. Out of 180 seats only few seats (10-20%)are sold for less and remaining are sold for higher fares and spot fares within 7 days are even higher.

rather I have a good suggestion IR should levy berth selection charges,
for lower berths they can charge 50rs extra or even more, but for certain age groups it should be free...for upper berths 30rs or more or whatever they
want...side lower something like 20rs or more...Idea copied from Air India or other airlines.

even if someone wants a specific coach, IR should ask for extra money..

cancellation charges are already high so no need to touch it...yes for tatkal cancellation, at least 50% should refund...As you are working engg so i hope you understand the meaning of hard earn money.

To stand in a market you must be competitive and IR is doing so for a long...

they stopped the pension (i personally feel it should be re-implemented again but not like NPS...if NPS is damn good then our beloved MP and MLA should opt for this scheme)

premium tatkal is already implemented (one of the worst schemes for me)
mass level recruitments have already slowed down or rather say almost freeze (i am not in the public sector so no idea here you can correct me...)
these are the popular steps known by every common citizen i guess there is many more...

by d way govt ka target sirf AC class rha h hmesha say...i remember a few years back i used to spend 1150rs for AC2 from Delhi to Varanasi or Mughal Sarai but now i have to spend more..

Anyways if Govt thinks Pvt players can handle IR, then govt must understand they have better staff than Pvt players just need to handle them carefully and delicately.
