I can't confirm or deny this. It was the first time I had seen this train and it came with a diesel loco that day.

Actually the reason for running in diesel locomotive due to Unnao Balamau single line and this train takes that route and previously unelectrified but now completely electrified. Same scenario for Kanpur Amritsar weekly express too.

This train barely has a TAT of 1.5 hrs at CNB, maybe the loco it came with encountered some technical glitch and they couldn't replace it with an electric engine. So a spare D-loco must have been given.
