Matheran is a QUITE and scenic hill station near Mumbai where motored vehicle are not allowed. It is located in western Ghats at 804 meters above MSL. The Matheran Hill Railway ( 2 Ft NG ) was built in 1907 by Sir Adamjee Peerbhoy and covers a distance of 21 Kms from Neral, the starting point on CSTM-KARJAT section. I could not take a ride of the train as it was not operational now, however I rode " Prince " a horse ,the only vehicle available from Aman Lodge to Matheran station with sightseeing en route.

Yes Sir, It was an amazing experience to have Horse Ride for about 2&1/2 Hrs to reach matheran with sightseeing enroute. This along with KR trip on Kurla-Ratnagiri section including Mahabaleshwar can be a good itenary for our CONVENTION...
