Elaborating on your points further Suman, SDAH division indeed performs much below it's true potential.
1. Taking advantage of the Ganga-Sagar Rush. Recently there was a news article in bengali elaborating how ASN earned 5 crores only in tickets during the Sharavani Mela. I am surprised SDAH makes no effort to run specials during this time. Diamond Harbour, Kakdwip, Namkhana these are great opportunities to be build as terminals and let long distance trains run. Ganga-Sagar attracts devotees all over the country, and all of these are directly accessible via the SDAH bypass. Running long distance trains from these areas are surely going to boost the income of SDAH Division.

more... I also feel that BLN-MJT-BGB section is under-utilised in terms of freight. The traffic on that line is much lesser than the one on the SDAH-DH line, and more freights should be tried out. Furthermore the SDAH-BGB & SPR-CG are amongst the worst performing sectors of the Kolkata Suburban Railway, and ticketless travellers are rampant. The number of services should be actively be curtailed. No free lunches should be provided to anybody.
