Alight here for Omkareshawar and Mamaleshwar Jyotirling. Direct meter gauge trains are available from Khandwa to Sanawad / Omkareshwar Road (Mortakka in local language) from where you will get Buses/Sharing Auto to Omkareshwar. As on 12-1-18 when I got to know that track is closed because of Gauge conversation.
.
Bus will drop you at Omkareshwar bus stand and you have to take auto from there. Also you can hire auto direct from Station to the main town.
.
...

We deboarded KNW at 11:40 AM from 12628 Karnataka Express and caught the next Meter gauge train. Please check the train schedule and buffer time before reservation.
.
There are two main temples of Lord Shiva here, one to Omkareshwar located in the island and one to Amareshwar/Mamaleshwar located on the south bank of Narmada River on the mainland. Omkareshwar Temple is situated on an island thought to have a symbolic shape of devotional letter ॐ .
.
I also recommend to have the parikrama of this island, better time to start is morning 5:00 AM - 5:30 AM in summer and as per your choice in winter. It will take approx 2 - 3 hours to complete. During this parikrama you can see the Sangam Ghat (River Narmada divides in two part after Dam and meets at this point), can take holy bath there (separate place for female is also there on the other side) and many other natural attractions.
.
If I explain my all experiences here then it will take a lot of lines and you will get bored. Better is to have own experience.
.
About lodging:- There are lot of Hotels and Dharamshala's in Omkareshwar mainland to stay and as I searched during my visit it will fits in every ones pocket. I recommend to reach Omkareshwar in day time so that you can search for your budget price stay there.
.
About Food:- Tea / Coffee / Snacks / Thali almost every thing is available and again I will say it will fit in every ones pocket. As I can remember we have taken Thali for Rs 50 and it is delicious in taste having 4 chapatis, seasonable veg,Dal with rice. I can not forget to mention Madhya Pradesh's famous morning breakfast Poha and Jalebi.
.
Also you can go for 1 or 2 day break journey at and catch your train again from KNW.
Its all for the day.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
