IR should upgrade Delhi Mumbai route via Alwar as it connects major cities like Ahemdabad Jaipur Ajmer etc and could become better than Delhi Mumbai route via kota

BCT-ADI-AII-JP-DLI is not able to realise its full potential because of
(1) ADI-DLI was earlier MG route and considered and truly considered as a no match to BCT-RTM route. Old mindset does not permit us to think otherwise.
(2) Today BCT-ADI-DLI is an alternative partly single non electrified route which still is just 110kmph.
(3) But what cannot be forgot is the fact
...

that ADI-DLI is under brisk doubling & electrification as well. Soon trn operation on both routes shall be equally comfortable.
(4) Now if ADI-DLI track is upgraded to 130kmph, both the routes shall be at par. Distance shall be at par i.e. 1425km (via JP) 1360km (via RGS) against 1385kms (via RTM). BCT-ADI-DLI route has advantage of much higher traffic potential due to location of mega cities ADI & JP on the route.
(5) finally viaADI route is futuristic high speed 160/200 kmph SHS Dedicated Passenger Corridor of IR, as Mumbai-Delhi DFC runs parallel to it. No freight train is expected to run on via ADI route where as via RTM route shall continue to run some slow moving freight trains. More over terrain of this route is flatter than BRC-RTM section, higher avg speed is expected.
(6) IR has poor track record in matter of formulating successful marketing strategies. Corporate management would have grabbed the opportunity to develop the guage converted route into top route of IR and reap benefits.
(7) The 1425 km route dotted with big cities, industrial/ commercial centers, State capitals, Rly HQs/Jns looks impressive

Actually the alignment of the route isn't high speed fit, otherwise it's shortest route.
It has to be redeveloped thoroughly, being said that it has great potential but BCT NDLS via KOTA has been already sanctioned with a good amount for High speed route in future.
Also the route via Alwar has lots of good cities, but IMHO the more the cities and towns in route, the more it's slow. The reason that no route is as good as Kota route is that it has long distances between major cities, which helps to

maintain the high speed nature of route.

You are absolutely right but if IR uses powerful loco then it's not a big problem

The problem wouldn't go, consider this, a plane has to go from city A to B, route A has 1 stop in middle, route 2 is direct, prices are same, what would you take? Also the direct route takes less time

There is one thing we can definitely agree upon
Electrification of DEE-RE-AWR-JP-AII-ADI route is necessary and of course a fully doubled route
Whether this route is upgraded or not, that's in the hands of local MP'S and of course the Railways itself
On the other hand, how about introducing Mumbai bound trains via NDLS/NZM-PWL-AWR-DO-GGC-KOTA?

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
