22678 KCVL-YPR weekly express follows the path of 12683 ERS-SMVT and 12778 KCVL-UBL which dont touch CBE. This train can be diverted. Similarly not sure what is the issue if Allp-MAS is diverted when CBE already has two dedicated trains like Nilgiri Exp and Cheran express one behind the other. Other trains mentioned like Kerala express and ERS-PNBE should be going to CBE. I think going forward PTJ will be the next big terminal and better connectivity needs to be provided so that passengers can board from here as well

Yes not sure what is the reason for Allp MAS and TVC Mail having stop at CBE when Nilgiri and Cheran almost originate from CBE territory and have lots of quota, seats available whereas Allp MAS and TVC mail might not have that many seat availability. Going forward most likely PTJ will become a important terminal. There were some reports on considering changing its station name to CBE South as well

MAQ-MAO is more on an intercity route. Earlier there was a Jan Shatabdi exp in this route which was discontinued. At least railways should have done some study prior to start of this service. I guess they will surely not continue this service if this is the occupancy. Adding more stops may not make a huge difference. In future once electrification happens in the Madgaon-Londa route then probably route it till Belgaum

Any possibility of electrification in the Madgaon-Londa section in near future ? They can try to run it as MAQ-UBL as well. For now could be a good option to run till CSMT

on a different note just checking if the MAO-Londa route electrification is planned ? Doubling looks doubtful but at least if electrified a VB can be tried along that section given the tourist potential

The article suggests full occupancy for the first 3 days for the CBE-BNC Vande Bharath. Assuming it was post new year rush.
The tickets availability in IRCTC for the next few days gives a diff picture. Lots of seats available in both Uday express and VB.

Re# 5928812-16
There was a railwwy minister who incidentally was from coastal Karnataka (Sadananda Gowda) in 2014 during the first NDA govt. He was not able to do anything. Then he was shunted to another ministry. When the Late Suresh Angadi ( also from Karnataka) was the minister of state there were lots of efforts and demands to him as well. Even he was unable to do anything. So wondering here if having another minister from Karnataka will really solve the issue of moving it to another zone ??
Even in November, when the current rail minister was in Bangalore, reporters asked him the same question. As per the response from rail minister looks like this will not happen

( attaching the screenshot of the article ). Completely understand the MAQ passengers point of view. They have reason to be disappointed. I am surprised at the GM response since just a month ago the DRM had assured of 3 trains being moved from MAJN to MAQ !!!

Good question. I guess if you see earlier as well I think Gulbarga div was announced in rail budget. Not implemented till date. Similarly no idea of the new rail zone in AP after carving out of the new state. New zone or new div is highly unlikely. I think the only chance when some realignment can possibly happen is if and when in future KR becomes part of Indian railways. That can be a good opportunity for railways to do some realignment. I have read reports that there are associations in Coastal MH & Karnataka who have been advocating of merging KR with IR.

Yes that is precisely the issue with KR. All other zones in India somewhere or the other are having upgrade in infra, station redevelopment & so on, but nothing in KR due to lack of funds. I remember seeing some proposals of the annual time table committee couple of years ago where some train proposed by SR or CR was rejected by KR stating that they desperately need to preserve some paths for goods train so that they get some revenues. Merging of KR with IR will be good from long term stand point but are there any technical difficulties in doing this ?

Nemon as Thiruvanthapuram South.

So there will be 3 stations. Thiruvanthapuram North, Thiruvanthapuram Central and Thiruvanthapuram South

will be very useful for passengers coming from outside the state who may not be aware of the station names.
Hoping it gets implemented quickly.
