An okayish train to travel from New Delhi to Haridwar. Although most people prefer the Jan-Shatabdi due to its afternoon departure. For availing the Shatabdi, you might have to stay the night at Delhi or have to be a local resident.
.
The train usually departs from PF 16 of New Delhi Railway Station. During my trip, the rake was shunted at New Delhi at 6:35 am., just 10 minutes before scheduled departure. Thus, there was total chaos at the gates of each coach. Still, we managed somehow. This situation might arise anyday...
more... with anyone.
.
The food served is extremely good throughout. Starting from the welcome drink to the breakfast, everything is excellent.
.
The toilets are a bit dirty though.
.
The punctuality of the train is excellent considering it gets the highest priority throughout the entire route. The train has a loco reversal at Saharanpur, and thus halts over there for a long time. You may get down, buy some snacks from the stalls on the platform. Try not to go near the locomotive, because the smoke from the Generator Van is extremely harmful (myself experienced it during my trip).
.
For getting down at Haridwar, get up from your seat and proceed towards the gate few minutes before only, as there will be rush on the aisle and no one will give you any space to keep your luggage. The train usually halts at PF 1 at Haridwar.

ENJOY THE RIDE !!!!

It's interesting to hear that the Jan-Shatabdi is preferred by most people due to its afternoon departure. Staying the night in Delhi or being a local resident might be necessary to catch the Shatabdi, as you mentioned.
I can understand the chaos that can occur when the rake is shunted just before departure. It's good that you managed to handle the situation. It's important for passengers to be prepared for such scenarios.
I'm glad to hear that the food served on the train is excellent from the welcome drink to breakfast. However, it's disappointing to hear that the toilets are not well-maintained. Cleanliness is an important aspect of train travel.
It's good to know that the train is punctual, as it has the highest priority on the route. The stop at Saharanpur provides an opportunity to buy snacks, but it's important to avoid getting too close to the locomotive due to harmful smoke from the Generator Van.
For passengers getting off at Haridwar, it's wise to be prepared and make your way to the gate a few minutes before the stop. Rush and limited space can make it challenging to manage luggage in the aisle.
