Swaraj Gang has taken 5.40 AM slot, thats why with so many stoppages enroute it will get overtaken by Swaraj also. Hence, any departure after 5 AM or before 6 AM will be disastrous for it. Even if it starts at 5.30, it will reach UMB after 9 AM considering the slots occupied by other Superfasts and VBs.
Swaraj can be given priority and overtake can itself happen before azadpur when both the trains will be on different sections..
before 5 am departure would be too early for people of RE and GGN ..
while after 6:30 AM... i guess .. Shan e Punjab and Shatabdis would suffer..
IR can take the narrow slot of 15 mins after Katra...

Yeah 6.10-15 AM still seems to be kept reserved for a VB. That's a premium time for a premium train originating from NDLS. I think in future we may see this slot being allotted to a ASR/Punjab bound VB.

Have followed this thread and many members spoke that the sector has premium travellers and there is no necessity for cheap intercity trains to compete. I have gathered occupancy data of New Delhi Daulatapur Jan Shatabdi which leaves in afternoon. The train has 9 GS sitting reserved 1000 seats approx and 4 ACC 320 seats making a total capacity of 1320. The train is in WL for about a week in both sides and today after chart preparation both are not available. The train has a vacancy of 550 while ACC 197 from Chandigarh to Una means the number travellers who deboarded at Chandigarh. The WL trends showed there is still demand for 2 more GS and another ACC. So the demand for restoration of Himalayan Queen stands justified. Whether it's independent train or extention of Jodhpur exp from Sarai Rohilla or using the rake as independent train...

Is there any chance of this train getting restored? This was the only train which used to go towards Chandigarh(and back too) in morning from Sonipat and Ganaur(with very suitable timings).

Maybe Gurgaon MP can collaborate with Sonipat MP to introduce HQ from Rewari in that case with something like below -

Rake is small because before 2019 lockdown 14795 used to run as this train's slip route from Panipat onwards. I don't think platform length issue will cause any major problem. This train was on the verge of getting restored(even the notice is there below in this train's forum) but politics ruined the train.
Ekta can't be shifted to an earlier slot. It already has bizarre timing from Bhiwani(04:25 AM) and you're saying make it more bizarre(extension can't be done because of this reason). Just imagine timing from Hisar.
There are already 2 trains from Bikaner to Ambala(from where Chandigarh is just 50 kms away with more than enough trains) - 14888 is daily and 14717 is tri-weekly, may be these 2 trains are serving well to the demand that's why they have not restored a replacement of Barmer Slip connection of bikaner to Chandigarh.

To run Himalayan Queen, I think running a Passenger/DEMU/MEMU train is only viable(and a good one seeing the ticket booking trends) alternative to 14795. When it used to run as slip almost half of its coaches used to remain at Panipat till evening when HQ came back, same can be done with Passenger/MEMU/DEMU or they can be run on some other route from Panipat if railway thinks so.
Running it only up to Chandigarh is not a good option as this train will pickup tourists(which explains waiting list this train used to have) from Delhi upto Kalka. Upto GGN, this train is fine but not beyond that. Gurgaon MP won't care anyways because there are enough AC and normal buses to Chandigarh plus metro makes the situation worse.

Karnal MP even made a joke by saying you can deduct my MP salary & allowances to meet commercial viability of stoppages in my constituency.
