It seems there is a rogue officer in the Railway Board who time and again brings this dirty idea of increasing fares on premium basis. It has been proved by super flop show of Premium trains that patronage for these type of fare increases is not encouraging. Moreover India Railways is a social organization formed to provide cheap travels to distant travellers. But under pressure from some rogue lobby, this organization has deviated. If profit making is the motive then privatise Railways and let Friends of the lobby charge exorbitant fares to make profitable organizations. We talk of development in railways but nothing is seen on the ground reality. Only in newspapers and Feku media one can hear railways achieving speed of 500 kmph. Still today Aam aadmin cannot get a confirm ticket in SL/3AC. Trains run on average speed of 60 kmph. Still Delhi Howrah takes 15 hours by Rajdhani...
more... and yet we talk of flying trains reaching one part of India to another in 12 hours. A dream of Railway Minister seen in broad day light. Railway has formed a fare fixing committee and what is it doing. What is the rational and logical inference of increasing fares on airlines basis. When airline fares are being fixed on the flight hours why not fix railway fares on time basis. The more the train takes, less should be the fare.
