They should be asking OGL - PDY I.C.E so that it can take the load off Pinakini that comes from BZA in the morning.
.
Similarly they should be asking for NLR - BZA/GNT I.C.E so that it can take load off Jan Shatabdi that comes from Chennai in the morning.

Yes,that's true.I think that's where these elected representatives come into picture. They should put a bit of pressure on the ministry to construct atleast a single pitline so that atleast the rake can be maintained.I think Chennai Egmore or Chennai Central will be busy so sending it to PDY will be a better idea.I know the kind of rush that is witnessed in trains like Pinakini and Jan Shatabdi so a train from Nellore or Gudur to BZA in the morning and a train from OGL to PDY will greatly benefit the districts of OGL and NLR.While Pinakini and Jan Shatabdi can cater to the towns and cities of Guntur,BZA,Chirala,Bapatla,Tenali.

I think this stretch between BZA-MAS or BZA-TPTY,one more I.C.E can help the daily commuters who come in huge numbers to the stations both during the mornings and later on in the evening.BZA-VSKP has three I.C.E in the form of Simhadri,J.B and Ratnachal. This stretch between BZA-MAS will gladly take an I.C.E to help take some load off Pinakini and Jan-Shatabdi and with the construction of capital starting in a few months,i see a lot of floating coming into picture.

It's all about population,Imran Bhai. The higher the population, the more likely the revenue will be higher.Guntakal i guess is such a big junction unlike Dharmavaram Junction so it makes up for the lack of population just by the sheer importance of it's junction which branches out in all directions.

Yup......that's the real issue in here.Cities with bigger populations get overlooked for stations which might have 1/3rd of the population of even less but get the stoppages because they act as important junction points for crew change or for other operational/technical reasons.

Thanks a lot for putting in the effort to dig out the earnings of the stations mentioned in the list.I was eagerly waiting for the numbers and was pleasantly surprised to see you post it today,Imran Bhai.I believe to qualify as an 'A1' station the earnings have to be above 50 Crores, right? (Do correct me if i am wrong) and if 50 Crores is indeed right then both RJY and NLR will qualify as A1 stations.
.
Am totally shocked to see the difference in earnings of RJY.Is it due to Pushkaralu,if not
...
then that's a big jump in earnings for RJY and though the population hasn't grown much am a bit surprised to see numbers and i was thinking that Kakinada will be the one to watch out for but that was not the case.
.
The other notable mention in the list is definitely Nellore.I have been saying it since long that the potential Nellore has is IMMENSE!!!! and with Krishnapatnam Port and the added industrialization of Nellore,i hope it gets it's due share of importance in the years ahead.

Sorry,i didn't notice...........the figures were for the financial year 2014-15,so no 'Pushkaralu effect' in place. So that's a good set of earnings posted by RJY.
.
The figures of Warangal are a bit surprising too considering the population is higher than Rajahmundry,Kakinada,Nellore,Ongole.....may be one needs to take the figures of Kazipet as well since i am sure a lot of people will be using Kazipet as their home stations to board/alight trains.
.
...

Ongole as you mentioned is impressive too at 32 crores, given that no fresh investment has come into the region to have a figure of close to 32 crores is pretty good and if the National Manufacturing Cluster does come up close to Ongole and with the development of a port on the eastern side, things will only get better for Ongole.
.
Gudur, well it's on the expected lines.........i think Railways needs to look at Nellore rather than Gudur in terms of stoppages.Just by going by the figures, one can clearly see the potential Nellore has over Gudur and i am pretty certain that Nellore will be noticed by the zonal heads to the kind of business opportunities it can provide.

45-50 crores,haan......then it looks a lot more reasonable compared to 27 crores.Similarly may be one can even consider the earnings of Kakinada Port which can be added to Kakinada Town, may be it will add a few crores to the overall earnings if not more.
.
Just read an article from IndianExpress and there it's mentioned that an annual passenger earnings of 50 crores will qualify a station as A1 so Nellore along with Rajahmundry satisfies the criteria if going by the figures.

Eluru is a bigger disappointment than Gudem, considering it falls on the main line, has a bigger pop. than Gudem and has similar stoppages to the likes of Nellore and Ongole. If one takes such a criteria then the earnings of Nellore look even more impressive because a lot of trains skip Nellore.

Yes,agreed SRG.......i think one needs to consider the figures of Kakinada Port along with Samalkot to get a much clearer picture.I am sure the figures will be different when the revenue from those two stations get added.

Actually even i wasn't aware if there were any changes because all this while i was under the impression that it was at 50 crores. Thanks to one of the admins. who helped us out by mentioning the existing and actual figure of 60 Crores that enables a station to qualify as an A1 category station. So all's well and thx nonetheless Suresh Garu for taking time out to answer.Appreciate that.Would have replied earlier but there was a power cut.Thx.

I think the affect Krishnapatnam is having on Nellore is finally starting to show in the revenue figure. There has been a significant growth in trade & commerce since operations started in Krishnapatnam and the economic activity has picked up pace in the last few years.Power generation units by various companies and edible oil refineries are the two stand out industries behind this,to name a few.I think more than the direct employment opportunities that is generated,it's the indirect employment opportunities that has benefited immensely and has catered to growth of movement of people back & forth into Nellore since it's the nearest railhead to Krishnapatnam.

am actually surprised that S.C.R has so far not made any announcements about plans to develop a station in Krishnapatnam. The earnings of S.C.R and more so the BZA division have gone up handsomely thanks to Krishnapatnam.I hope for the sake of Nellore that state government has surplus land available close to Krishnapatnam so that if there are any plans to develop a railway facility then 'Land' is not an issue, because the land rates have gone up with all the developmental activities that are taking place.
.
3 pitlines????? Anthey naa??? Koncham peddha kalalu kanandi, bhai.Make use of the 'Nellore Next' platform which was started by Shri.Venkaiah Naidu garu as a platform from where common people from Nellore and around can share their ideas about the next stage of development pertaining to all fields.According to some industry veterans the Krishnapatnam - Chittoor belt could well become one of the most industrialized areas in South A.P due to the geographical proximity to both Chennai-Bangalore thanks to huge landbank along with a deep water port, the proposed international airport at Tirupati and Sri-City,things hopefully will get better for this region.

Agreed,i believe the Southern part of A.P is under served and may be it's due to lack of terminal facilities that might have prevented S.C.R from starting new services.I think intercity services to Tirupati,Vizag,Vijayawada,Chennai and may be Bangalore make sense, speaking of immediate future.Long distance services can be considered if Nellore or Greater Nellore comprising Nellore-Gudur-Krishnapatnam reach a population of 15-20 lakhs in the next decade depending upon the rate at which the region grows.

Nellore aithey Kashtam.I have seen the station passing through and i don't think there is any space significant enough to build a proper yard. They have to make use of Telamanchi,Kovur,Venkatachalam,Vedayapalem and other surrounding stations to keep a rake idle, just for the sake of it.On the other hand,a station like Gudur as one of the members pointed out would make a lot more sense or if Krishnapatnam keeps on surprising us with it's performance and the whole region gets a lot of investment then may be developing a proper terminal station will make a lot of sense.
