Sleeper Class experience today was horrendous. S2 was packed with unskilled workmen travelling to Kerala and by noon they had all spread plastic sheets on the floors and were sleeping everywhere. It was impossible to get up for lack of space, fear of theft and fear of seat being taken. The Ticket Checkers were accepting bribes to let these people remain and the upper berths had 2, sometimes 3 people. There was no power in my coach so after sundown it was pitch black with no fans and people lying all over the place.

The order of the coaches has reversed (compared to the schematic shown on indianrailinfo. I travelled 12262 / 12261 this month and found that when leabving from Mumbai CST the Bxx coaches (AC 3-tier) are nearest the loco and Axx / Hxx are towards the end of the rake. Also, A4 is officially called AE1 for the time being. Please update the scheme. Thanks.

I travelled 12838 on CTC-HWH yesterday. AC-2 Tier coaches were ancient (ICF with two windows per coupe), with door handles coming off and thick layer of dust on edges of seats, window rubber, etc. It was just about tolerable due to the short journey (6 hours to HWH).

12250 NDLS HWH Yuva Express at Dhanbad Jn, running 2 hours late, hauled by WAP 4 of Howrah. I was fortunate enough to get a reservation in the 2A coach (temporarily augmented for summer). As you can see, the 2A is an ancient coach, leftover from a Rajdhani rake with dual windows in each coupe. However it was clean and well -maintained...strongly recommend due to its good speed and convenient timing + limited halts...as good as Duronto.

Actually, in my experience CC is not a bad option for a 15-20 hr journey also...remember 20 yrs ago (before introduction of 3A) Sealdah Rajdhani, Howrah Rajdhani also ran CCs only. I have travelled Sealdah Rajdhani on CC and found it very tolerable.
Since Yuva is targeted at young travellers with limited means of income, CC is perfectly justified ... although the "special" economy CC seating of Yuva (with no catering) may be less comfortable

The timing of the train and route makes it a very very safe option if travelling Delhi-HWH. Leaving NDLS at 1945, it crosses UP at night and Jharkhand / Bihar is crossed between very early morning as the sun is rising. There is less chance of robbery, dacoity, etc. that is a major concern in the region.

EMU of ER's Kolkata Circular rail photographed near Princep Ghat Stn, with Vidyasagar Setu in background. This service is little known and excellent connectivity between South Kolkata and Dalhousie. Regrettably there are only 4-5 services a day.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
