This train follows the same route as that of Bangalore-ERS intercity express but surprisingly does not change to electric engine. For the entire 800 km it is hauled by diesel. The railways could save a huge amount of fuel cost if an electric engine is used from Salem onwards just as it is done for the intercity express.
Sometimes dont understand the rationale of railways.....They try to increase fares in various ways, superfast charge, reservation charge, cancellation charge etc etc but dont try to look at ways where they can save huge costs from their end.

Very true. Plus it increases the revenue of railways, decreases pollution. I had read that diesel costs three to four times electricity. Plus diesel engines have high total consumption , like to turn on the engine, I heard it takes 40 to 50 litres. 2500 bucks to start a diesel engine. If it's kept idle at a station, it consumes like 10 to 12 litres

Probably after kr, no big challenging track has been commissioned in swr or karnataka. High time three projects are given priority.
1. Scrapping of hmrda agreement, doubling electrification of sbc has majn.
2. Sbc gy , gy sc, dd mmr , doubling electrification.
3. High speed trains between sbc pune, sbc cstm.

General Manager/SCR Visits the Injured TTE at Hospital ; Says Stringent Action will be Taken against Offenders.
Shri V.Vijaykumar, Travelling Ticket Examiner of Kazipet ticket checking squad, was pushed out of a General Coach of Train No.12625 Tiruvananthapuram - New Delhi Kerala Express by some unknown passengers during the course of ticket checking near Jammikunta at around 15:00 hrs on 2nd June, 2014.
As per the available information, the TTE noticed that one of the passengers in a group was

travelling without ticket and he was asked to pay the charges. However, some unknown persons from that group pushed the TTE out of the running train. The nearby Railway level crossing gateman found him in severely injured condition and was immediately shifted to a private hospital at Hanamkonda. on getting information about this unfortunate incident, Railway officials from Kazipet immediately rushed to the hospital and organised necessary medical relief to the injured staff.
Shri P.K.Srivastava, General Manager/SCR, expressed his deep anguish on this incident and directed the senior officials to immediately launch a man hunt to nab the culprits and also to provide necessary medical care to the injured TTE on top priority. Shri Vijaykumar, the TTE who suffered multiple injuries, has been shifted to a corporate hospital at Secunderabad last night for better medical treatment as per the directions of the GM.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and the ticket checking staff of SCR have swiftly launched a massive checking in the coaches of the Kerala Express and also at stations enroute to nab the culprits. 2 suspected offenders have been detained for questioning at Ramagundam railway station. A criminal case has been registered on this incident at the Government Railway Police Station, Mancheriyal and the case is under investigation.
Shri P.K.Srivastava called on the family members of the injured staff today i.e. on 3rd June, 2014. He assured them that the best possible medical care would be provided to him. He also informed that Railway administration stands by them in this hour of need and all requisite assistance would be given. Later, he visited Shri Vijaykumar, who is undergoing treatment at the hospital and enquired with the medical team about his condition. His condition is stated to be stable.
SCR strongly condemns this reprehensible incident, wherein a ticket checking staff performing his duties has been obstructed and assaulted by some unscrupulous elements travelling in the general coach of an express train.
In this connection, Railways make a fervent appeal to the passengers not to obstruct the Railway personnel discharging their mandated duties. The passengers are required to produce their ticket/travel authority on demand to a ticket checking official as per rules. Interfering with the genuine discharge of duties by a Railway servant is a punishable offence as per The Railways Act – 1989 and stringent action will be taken against the offenders.
Ticket checking is primarily aimed to curb the social menace of ticketless/irregular travel and eliminate the presence of un-authorised persons in Railway premises. This activity is being done regularly to ensure hassle-free and comfortable travel to bona-fide passengers.
Hence, passengers are requested to cooperate with the Railway staff in this regard.

Punishment secondary. Rpf should accompany tte in unreserved coaches and sleeper coaches. No compensation , punishment can bring back normalcy to tte s life.
