Koaa Dbg Maithili itself took years to get decent patronage as it was a day time train. The demand between Kolkata - Bihar is mostly for overnight trains actually with Patna being the only exception. That section can easily fillup another reverse VB

I strongly believe i haven't said anything demeaning to Katihar. Malda, being a city of Bengal, has high demand for it's state capital Kolkata. That capital city factor doesn't exist for Katihar. Pick up any train on the Malda-Kolkata sector, including trains like Njp shatabdi and Njp VB and u will find Malda gives the 2nd highest number after NJP on this route. I dont, and haven't either, claim the same for other routes like Delhi or Mumbai or some other city but for Kolkata, yes Malda have a bigger demand for sure.

The slowdown portion is because of NFR's lethargy i believe. Just check the schedule between NOQ and GHY. Other than KYQ, that stretch that has not seen any new halt addition since the inception of this train. But still NFR went on to slow down Saraighat in almost each and every TAAG. I hope things improve after the whole Goalpara route gets doubled.

Because of punctuality and good priority. Just look at yesterday's run. Saraighat was almost 1hr 10mins late at Noq but still managed to arrive Hwh 7mins before time.

The TT looks more like a Intra-Bihar train that has been dumped at NJP for PM purpose. If they want to benefit the Darjeeling bound tourist, then this TT should have been reversed. NJP dep at 5.15 wont provide decent patronage. Also 20.00 arrival at NJP is not going to help the Darjeeling bound passengers.

There is a difference actually between NJP shatabdi and Patna VB. Darjeeling bound passengers hardly use NJP shatabdi actually. NJP shatabdi mainly acts as a Intercity service between Siliguri, Malda and their state capital Kolkata. Kolkata being the state capital, a lot of passenger movement (not tourist) takes place between Siliguri and Kolkata. In case of Patna VB, that factor is missing actually since both Siliguri and Patna are in different state. It will surely get Parna bound passengers from Katihar and Kishanganj but the passengers from Siliguri will be mainly tourists visiting Darjeeling.
